For Project Hobsonville, I worked with existing furniture and selected pieces for my client’s newly built home. My aim was to elevate the overall aesthetic of the dining and lounge areas in particular while enhancing the modern style of their home. I curated a selection of luxurious furniture, with a particular focus on a New Zealand made coffee table and ottoman duo. This approach enhanced the visual appeal and ensured durability and longevity for their lifestyle. Handcrafted furniture in New Zealand combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, resulting in unique and high-quality pieces.
Throughout the process, I provided our clients recommendations, presented them options, and worked closely with them to ensure they were happy with all my selections. I considered factors such as spatial design, functionality, and the overall flow of the home to create a cohesive and harmonious living environment.
The boucle armchairs create a luxurious and comfortable seating area where the clients could socialise, relax and put their feet up in their lounge. Boucle fabric, known for its soft and textured looped yarns, is not only visually appealing but also offers a cozy and inviting feel. We applied a fabric protection to each armchair so our clients can enjoy them stress free, with a glass of wine in one hand.
The New Zealand made coffee table and ottoman duo was the perfect final touch for the lounge. Hand selected timber stain, metal finish and fabric created a bespoke piece for our client to treasure for years to come. I love how the ottoman tucks under the coffee table when not in use and pulled out when that extra seating is required for guests.
The hand-crafted sideboard table is my personal favourite from this project. Its unique design includes bone-inlay applied in a beautiful pattern on each door panel. I couldn’t get past this eye catching piece and was so excited when our clients loved it too. It brings that wow factor to the space and its brass tips on the legs add a little detail that creates a cohesive flow from the lounge furniture.
Art! The final touch to the lounge and dining spaces. This gorgeous piece was selected for its warm colour tones and beautiful intricate details. It brings all the colours of the space into one large striking piece. It catches your attention as soon as you enter the home and draws your eyes down the hallway into the lounge where you are invited to experience the beautiful setting.
Bringing together new furniture pieces with existing ones requires a thoughtful and well-planned out creative process. The goal is not only to create a cohesive look by incorporating common elements but also introduce new and exciting elements that add a "wow factor" to the space. Blending old and new elements in your home creates a space that feels both familiar and exciting. This process ultimately results in a stunning and personalized home that brings joy and satisfaction to our clients.
